Consumer Tips
(From our May 11th Activity Night)
- Sam’s Club if something is being discontinued (i.e. seasonal items) or short on supply, they will use the numbers 1 (one) or 2 (two) as the last digit of the price. Most common is $_ _.81, or $_.71. Whenever I’m at a Sam’s Club I always scope out what clothing they have marked down.
- Costco items to be discontinued, clearance, or seasonal items end in the number 7 (seven). So when I’m there I always check out the clothing area and look for price such as $5.87. You also need to walk around the refrigerated cases to see if they have anything marked down. They practically give stuff away if an item is near its expiration date.
- NPS Store 1600 South Empire Road Salt Lake City, UT 84104. The NPS Store is a salvage and freight recovery company that sells its products in two stores in Salt Lake City and online via EBay and Amazon. Shop on Thursdays, Fridays, or Saturdays for extra deals. Ask for a “sale flyer” as you walk in the door.
- Tuesday Morning: (Use to have ads by Lauren Bacall) “Be the First to find the Treasures” The first Tuesday of every month this company has a sale. Hence the name “Tuesday Morning”. What do they sell? Several locations in the valley: Web site http://www.tuedaymorning.com/

Money Saving Coupon Sources
Make the internet your friend. If you go to restaurants a lot, visit the web site of your favorite places. Many restaurants have an email club where, if you sign up, they send you money saving coupons on a regular basis.

Avoid being drawn into buying something just because it is a "good deal" or because you have a coupon for it.
Take 10 minutes each week to read the sale papers/ads. You can save a lot of money by simply waiting for item(s) to go on sale.
Instead of buying pop from the vending machine every day, bring a can from home. One pop every day is costing you $183 a year. If you are going to a restaurant, try ordering ice water instead of a soft drink -this can add up if your entire family does this!
